Expatriate Interview Essay

Expatriate Interview Essay

You will interview an expatriate (i.e., a person who is currently working in an international assignment). Their nationality is not important, but it is important that they have lived and worked in a country other than their own for at least six months. The purpose of the assignment is to give you some insight into the life and work of an expatriate. Record the interview in writing, so that you can use their comments to write a paper using what you have learned.
You should focus on expatriate issues such as the cultural challenges the person you are interviewing faced abroad. Unexpected differences (for example, you could ask the interviewee if his/her expectations about foreign country were supported or have changed significantly since he/she arrived in the country), the experience of culture shock, and the methods they used to adjust to the new culture. Each interview must have 15 open-ended questions plus some background questions that will help provide a profile of the interviewee (e.g., work experience, cross-cultural experiences, etc.) This assignment should be roughly 2-3 pages (single spaced). Please include (on a separate page that does not count as part of your page limit) the list of the questions you asked.
