For our discussion this week, I would like you to watch the documentary ‘Crips and Bloods: Made in America’.
You can stream the video by clicking on the following link:

You can also find this film on Netflix (or other places) and the subtitles there are well done. It is widely available.
The film provides many different sociological insights that we could explore. For our discussion, I would like to leave things open for you while encouraging a discussion about family. The film provides great insight in to the influence of structure on the lives of individuals and groups. It also demonstrates how groups and individuals help to shape and influence social structure. How does family fit in to this? What is family? How does social structure influence family? These are some questions to help us get started. Please engage and bring up something that interests you or caught your attention the most, either in the chapter or the film.
