Cost Reports/Analysis
Cost Reports/Analysis
A full cost report for the project. Be sure to include a full BOM indicating what has been spent as
well as what is anticipated to be spent. Some of you may have multiple bills of materials or
project budgets to present. For example, industry teams should present their cost (what you
have spent to date on the project—all- inclusive cost for testing apparatuses, etc.) as well as the
client cost (what would it cost them to manufacture without the need to test, etc.). Please provide
cost-benefit analyses of certain components and a return on investment analysis for the final
product.
For the cost-benefit analysis for components, you want to address the pros/cons for your
component decisions with respect to the cost. So for example, the battery that the team is using
is low-cost, but it is heavy (which will cost a lot to send to space). Would it be better to use a
more expensive, but smaller and lighter battery? Why did you choose the battery you did? So think about the components on the rover and what the benefits are to the one you chose, versus
the other possibilities and their costs. You can also look at a cost-benefit on a large scale (total
cost of your rover versus the benefit it has).
For the return on investment, look at the cost of the rover versus the overall benefit it has. If we
were to implement your rover in practice, it would cost money ( the total rover cost was
projected to be $2000). BUT- the benefit is that the astronauts no longer need to plant the crops.
So the upfront cost of your rover would be (total rover cost), but we no longer need to pay an
astronaut to do that. At what point does the rover cost (including maintenance) pay off versus the
current need to pay astronauts. Please include all components as much as possible.
What I need is the cost-benefit analyses of certain components and a return on investment
analysis of the final product, I already got some explanation from others and provide it to you
above. I hope it can help you. And I will provide our bill of materials and budget in Files, I will also
upload a file of our PDR report to you. you could look at those three files and please try your best
to do this.
