UAS Risk Assessment
You are the owner of a drone photography business. Consider a single drone flight to take pictures of a local construction site. Perform a thorough risk assessment. Cover every aspect of your planned operation. In your assessment, address these items:
Evaluate pre-flight, take-off, transit, mission execution, landing, and post-flight.
Consider all phases of flight and external factors such as weather, obstacles, traffic, and humans, potential system failures, and airspace.
Provide suggestions for methods to avoid/mitigate/isolate the risks.
Compile your assessment into a 2-page, APA style report. Support your findings with citations and references, where applicable. In addition to your narrative, you should have a safety risk assessment matrix that defines the Risk Assessment Categories (RAC) based on the probability (likelihood) and the severity which also need to be defined at each level. You then should have a UAS Operational Safety Risk Map with a table with columns for at least the hazard, consequence, severity, probability, RAC, and mitigation.
