Research Compare and Contrast Paper

Instructions
You are required to view a contemporary, original piece of art in your area(St. Louis, Mo.) and
compare/contrast it to an ancient work from your text, after analyzing both pieces. For example, if
you choose a portrait of a leader, find one in your text; if you choose a building, like a church, find
one in your text to compare.
Note: If a museum is not available, try your public library, local community college, or an art gallery
for sculptures, parks for statues, or government buildings for paintings. Also, don’t forget that
architecture is an art form. Look around for a church or an interesting building. Art is everywhere!
Your paper should address the following:
1. Identification: Provide Identifying details for each work (10 points = 5 points for each work):
• Artist: Who was the artist?
• Title of the work: What is the title of the work?
• Date: When was the work created?
• Media: How/with what was the work created?
• Location: Where is the work from your area displayed? For the work from your text, please also
include the page number.
2. Description: What does each work look like? (100 points = 50 points for each work):
• Describe the subject matter of each work, in detail. Imagine you are describing the work to a blind
person; use that level of detail. For example, don’t just say there’s a house in a field.
• Identify and discuss five formal elements of art (Choose from line, shape, color, texture, space,
contrast, scale, balance, and emphasis) in detail, for each work. For instance, don’t just tell me
there were lines in the work, tell me what kind (straight, curved, horizontal, diagonal, thick, thin,
implied, etc.) and tell me how they affect the composition (lines dominate the left half of the work,
etc.).
3. Compare and Contrast the two (2) works (70 points):
• Compare and contrast the works (Do not compare the terms from part 2), and answer these
questions in your analysis: How are the works similar and how are they different? Is the message o
function the same? Is the intended audience different? Do they look alike or not? Has the meaning
changed over time?
• Also discuss such things as symbolism and purpose (aesthetic, social commentary, propaganda, etc.) and evaluate the effectiveness of the works.
Important Guidelines
1. Format
• Organize this material into a 4-5 page paper.
• The paper should be double-spaced with a 1” margin and type size should not exceed 12 pts.
• Art History, as a discipline, utilizes the MLA style.
2. Sources:
• Always cite your sources!
Examples of art covered in class:
Woman of Willendorf
Tutankhaten
Cyclades
Faience figurine
Minoan Art
Persian Art
Mycenaean Art

Part 1. Read the following article: Owen PR. Portrayals of schizophrenia by entertainment media:
a content analysis of contemporary movies. Psychiatr Serv. 2012;63(7):655-659 (Available on
Blackboard)
Answer the following questions (each worth 0.15 points, for total of 0.75 points):
a) What is the research question, and the motivation behind the research question (why did the
author want to answer it)?
b) How was the sample defined? Which databases were used for the search? Which search terms were used?
c) List the variables the researcher used to code the data.
d) What is the author’s main conclusion based on the study results?
e) In your opinion, how trustworthy are the results of this study? Which aspects of the design
contribute to its trustworthiness (credibility, dependability, confirmability, and/or transferability)?
What are some of the study’s limitations?

Public Budgeting Research Paper

Public Budgeting Research Paper
Select the actual budget of a particular county or city or village government or department in the government to perform the assessment.
The budget assessment could cover the following if you can find information:
What is the history?
What are the Racial Demographics?
What is their Budget summary ?
What services do they provide?
What is there revenue?
What are there expenses?
Do they have any debt and why?
Did they win any awards?
IRS/FBI incidents?
What is the mission(s)?
What are the major programs carried out?
What is the percent increase in total requested expenditures for next year over last year’s budget?
What object of expenditure category is the largest?
Which is growing the fastest?
Is the number of personnel (FTE) growing, and is the growth rate faster or slower than the personnel budget (in dollars)?
What does this tell you about changes in average salaries?
What are the most significant sources of revenue?
How have revenues for these sources changed?
Revenues
How much change in the property tax rate is acceptable in a given year?
How will one-time revenues, such as grants or tax windfalls, be used?
How frequently should service charges and fees be reviewed?
Discuss the policy priorities revealed by expenditure patterns?
Operating budget
How comprehensive is the budget?
Should it include both operating and capital budgets?
What funds should be in the operating budget?
Should the operating and capital budgets be prepared concurrently or separately?
What constitutes a balanced budget?
What types of budget reserves should be maintained?
How much money should be maintained in each?
Under what conditions money should be withdrawn?
What guidelines should govern budget preparation and amendment?
Who is responsible for budget preparation, and what are their duties?
Budget implementation
What policies should govern the transfer of money across accounts or funds?
Who is responsible for keeping spending within appropriated amounts?
Generate revenue estimates utilizing revenue forecasting techniques you learned from the class discussions and reading materials.
Assess if the projected revenues will be sufficient to cover the projected ongoing expenditure needs.
If there is a projected surplus, what budget adjustments do you suggest?
If there is a projected balance, what policy actions do you suggest to further strengthen the fiscal health? If there is a projected deficit, what budget adjustments do you suggest to correct the problem and achieve a balanced budget?

Cost Reports/Analysis

Cost Reports/Analysis
A full cost report for the project. Be sure to include a full BOM indicating what has been spent as
well as what is anticipated to be spent. Some of you may have multiple bills of materials or
project budgets to present. For example, industry teams should present their cost (what you
have spent to date on the project—all- inclusive cost for testing apparatuses, etc.) as well as the
client cost (what would it cost them to manufacture without the need to test, etc.). Please provide
cost-benefit analyses of certain components and a return on investment analysis for the final
product.
For the cost-benefit analysis for components, you want to address the pros/cons for your
component decisions with respect to the cost. So for example, the battery that the team is using
is low-cost, but it is heavy (which will cost a lot to send to space). Would it be better to use a
more expensive, but smaller and lighter battery? Why did you choose the battery you did? So think about the components on the rover and what the benefits are to the one you chose, versus
the other possibilities and their costs. You can also look at a cost-benefit on a large scale (total
cost of your rover versus the benefit it has).
For the return on investment, look at the cost of the rover versus the overall benefit it has. If we
were to implement your rover in practice, it would cost money ( the total rover cost was
projected to be $2000). BUT- the benefit is that the astronauts no longer need to plant the crops.
So the upfront cost of your rover would be (total rover cost), but we no longer need to pay an
astronaut to do that. At what point does the rover cost (including maintenance) pay off versus the
current need to pay astronauts. Please include all components as much as possible.
What I need is the cost-benefit analyses of certain components and a return on investment
analysis of the final product, I already got some explanation from others and provide it to you
above. I hope it can help you. And I will provide our bill of materials and budget in Files, I will also
upload a file of our PDR report to you. you could look at those three files and please try your best
to do this.
