Environmental science is always in the news. Find a recent article or blog post that interests you and write a 500 word letter to the editor or response to the blog post. Your letter/essay/post should synthesize the problem being discussed and critically evaluate how it was reported: Do they clearly articulate the problem? Do they discuss why it’s important? Is the article written with an agenda? Is the publication outlet credible? Does the article accurately represent the science? Are primary sources cited with the article? Does the article communicate scientific uncertainty? You should characterize why the issue is/isn’t important to you or society and what should/shouldn’t be done to mediate the problem. Be concise!
