Contents of Proposal Sections
Abstract
Summarise the proposal, with brief overviews of the background, research questions, main literature review topics and
research methods. Include a list of 3-5 key words.
Introduction
Present the background and context of the topic using market intelligence sources. These must demonstrate the usefulness
of the planned research. Present a research aim and list of objectives at the end of the section.
Literature Review
Use academic journal articles to create a deeper understanding of the chosen topic. These sources will form your theoretical
framework and identify the specific issues or variables to be researched.
Methodology
Present the research questions and the research methods that will be used to answer them. Discuss the overall plan for the
research, demonstrating why each research method is appropriate for the research questions. Include detailed plans for both
data collection and data analysis. Explain how you plan to engage in your research in an ethical way, mitigating potential
harms.
Timetable for completion, including development plan
Include a detailed timetable for completion of the final project based on reasonable estimates for how long you expect
individual elements of the work to take you. Support this with an analysis of the research skills you will need to develop and a
plan for developing these.

Harvard-style list of all sources used within the assignment. The formatting must be consistent and the sources must be in
author-year order.
