Interpersonal Problem Solving Assignments

Interpersonal Problem Solving Assignments
Imagine you are a middle school counselor and you need to give advice one-on-one to a student
who is A) unpopular or B) a victim of bullying (you choose A or B). Use your textbook (not the
internet).
Type out a paraphrase of what your conversation with the student would be like. Make sure your
advice is based on evidence and best practices for the type of student you are talking to. If you
would need more information from the student in order to give good advice, make questions of
the student part of your conversation, or narrate your inner thoughts for me.
PRO TIP: Consider the Social Problem-Solving Steps from Dodge’s research. Really let me
know that you know the research recommendations.
Answers that earn high credit will:
Have very few grammatical or spelling errors.
Be compassionate (middle schoolers need that).
Be based on evidence about the causes and best solutions for the problem being addressed.
