Relationship Between Suicide Rates and Income

Eempirical Research Paper. For this individual project, undertake an empirical business-related research proposal. The final empirical paper (7- 9 pages max) with quantitative and qualitative components.

I would expect the following structure:

(1) Introduction/Motivation (basically: what is your paper about and why should we care; some descriptive statistics are welcome here);

(2) Relevant literature review (papers/books of related work; at least 3 to 5 articles/books);

(3) Empirical methodology (basically: econometric model, definitionof variable and source of data; summary descriptive statistics still welcome here);

(4) Empirical results;

(5) References (cite academic sources, working papers and other sources; can never write a paper, yes even a proposal, without references!).

The final draft of your empirical paper is due. [Hard & soft copies, along with the data and STATA do-files].

Part of your research grade includes up to 20-minute PowerPoint presentation to be scheduled towards the end of the semester (on or before the final paper draft is due).

Prepare a brief statement (200 words) describing the topic you selected, the reason why you have selected it, what you plan to do and potential data sources.

Your empirical research paper (20%) and its presentation (10%) are worth 30% of your final grade. In addition to the above mention required sections, your grade will depend on how ‘advanced’ your paper is.

Notably, getting/gathering your own data, descriptive and inferential statistics along with a regression analysis are REQUIRED for a passing grade.
