The police personality can be described by some as cynical, authoritative and secretive. “Some experts believe that policing attracts recruits who are by nature cynical, authoritarian and secretive. Others maintain that socialization and experience on the police force itself causes these character traits to develop.”(Seigel, Worral 2016). Others say that policing nurtures and develops the police personality, possibly bringing to the surface personality traits that were previously hidden.
