Treatment of Eating Disorders

Parents can force those suffering from anorexia or bulimia into treatment, but after they turn 18 years of age, they can refuse treatment until or unless deemed incompetent to make their own decisions by a court of law.
Should adults have the right to refuse treatment for anorexia or bulimia? How does this differ from refusing treatment for a medical condition or another psychological disorder such as depression?
