Corporate presentation based on a SWOT analysis

In this assignment, you are to use the same corporation you selected for the assignments in Weeks 3, 6 and 8. You will prepare an executive level PowerPoint presentation that could be delivered to the board of directors.
Use any or all of the following resources to conduct research on the corporation:
The corporation’s website.
Public filings from the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Filings & Forms page.

Based on the SWOT analysis, outline a strategy for the company to capitalize on its strengths and opportunities, and minimize its weaknesses and threats.
Discuss the various levels and types of strategies the firm may use to maximize its competitiveness and profitability.
Outline a communications plan the company could use to make the strategies you recommend above known to all stakeholders.
Assess efforts by the corporation to be a responsible (ethical) corporate citizen and the impact on the corporation’s bottom line. Provide specific examples to support your response.
Use three or more quality sources, including your textbook, to support your writing. Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate. Cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment. (Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as academic resources)

SLP Written Communication Emphasized Level

Module 3 – SLP
MERGERS, ACQUISITIONS, AND REDUCTIONS IN FORCE
Assignment Overview
Signature Assignment: Written Communication, Emphasized Level
In this assignment, your written communication skills will be assessed. The Written Communication rubric will be useful for this purpose. In MGT302, they were assessed at the “introduced” level. In MGT407, written communication skills were assessed at the “reinforced” level. Finally, in MGT491, your written communication skills will be assessed at the “emphasized” level. The skills needed in these three assignments build on each other and offer you the opportunity to enhance and practice your written communication skills. The grading rubric for written communication at the undergraduate level has been developed to measure student success in meeting the MGT491 SLP 3 expectations. Rubrics for the other two courses are included in their respective assignments.
In this course, MGT491, you will demonstrate the skills you have been practicing in the previous courses in the BSHRM degree program: quantitative reasoning, information literacy, and written communications. Previously, in Module 1, you demonstrated your quantitative reasoning skills. Quantitative reasoning is your analysis of a given set of metrics. In the Module 3 Case assignment, you demonstrated your information literacy skills by finding and selecting the right high-quality sources for a specific topic. In the Module 3 SLP assignment, you will demonstrate your written communications skills. Written communication is how you take information and explain it logically while rationally defending your views on the information presented in an assignment.
The following is a list of suggested resources available in the Trident Online Library related to the HR field. Note that you are not required to use only these sources, although the ones you select to use must be found in the Trident Online Library databases.

SLP Assignment
For each SLP question below, select three articles (published within the past five years), each from different peer-reviewed academic journals/magazines. Find articles that specifically address the following:
1. Mergers & Acquisitions: What main point(s) about merging companies does the author make particularly relating to HRM? Do you agree? Why or why not?
2. Reduction in Force (RIF): What main point(s) about RIFs does the author make particularly relating to HRM? What steps can HRM take to prepare employees for a possible RIF?
In your 2-page submission (not counting the cover page), create a 2-sided flyer that HR department staff can give to each person laid off due to Mergers & Acquisitions or a Reduction-in-Force. Include both a cover page and reference page for this assignment. These can be a separate document from the flyer. Experiment with using Microsoft Publisher or its equivalent free program found online for the 2-page flyer (a tri-fold flyer might work best for you—you could then put the references on the middle back column). Keeping the seriousness of the topic in mind, use color, but keep the flyer business-like without flamboyance. Be selective and add pictures that reflect your message. If you use a tri-fold template in Word or Publisher, plan your layout first so that once it is folded everything is in the right place.
Written communication is not just about word selection and grammar. It is also about selecting the right information that sends the correct message to the receiver. Keep this in mind as you determine the message you want to send to your employees. Select the appropriate terminology and wording that provides your employees with an adequate amount of information to set them at ease regarding a potential reduction in force, merger, or an acquisition opportunity at your organization.
Upload your assignment to the appropriate Dropbox. Be sure to review your TurnItIn Originality report. If the score is over 15%, you may not be writing in your own words and you will need to contact your professor and arrange to revise and resubmit your assignment.

3. Evaluate one example of an employer where downsizing was necessary and what its impact was on employees and business.
In your 5-page submission (not counting the cover page), briefly address the three questions about downsizing, then (in the same document) create a bibliography of the nine peer-reviewed academic journal articles that includes a properly formatted reference followed by not less than a half-page paragraph describing the article in your own words, repeating the process until all nine references are inserted and discussed.
Questions to address in your paragraphs include:
1. The main concept of this article is….
2. The article is important and adds to the current research literature on the concept because…
3. The article is valid for research on this topic because…
4. An area that will continue to add to the researchers’ work is…
5. I found the ______________ section of this article to be extremely interesting and would recommend this article to others researching in the HR/OB disciplines.
No reference page is needed for this assignment because the references are a part of the Bibliography. Please read the Grading Rubric for Information Literacy before submitting your paper. Submit the assignment by inserting it into the appropriate drop box by the due date and time.

Read and Review Armstrong and Taylor Chapter

Read and Review Armstrong and Taylor Chapter

After reading and viewing the background materials, (especially the Armstrong and Taylor chapter), address the following questions in 10-12 PowerPoint slides (not counting the cover slide and reference list slide). Be brief in words on the slides and insert everything you would say in the Comments/Notes section under the slides, not on the actual viewable slides. [Plan the presentation for an audience of adults working on an HRM undergraduate degree.]
Bring in at least two valid and reliable outside readings found in peer-reviewed journal articles in the Trident Online Library to support your response to each question. List the sources used at the end of your slide presentation; but cite your sources on the notes pages of the appropriate slides.
1. When should an organization recruit globally?
2. What are the advantages and challenges of traditional expatriate assignments, where employees are sent to another country to work and live for multiyear assignments? (This should be multiple slides.)
3. Explain the differences between geocentric, ethnocentric, polycentric, and regiocentric staffing policies. In what way do these terms relate to the concepts of diversity, inclusion, and equity? (This should be multiple slides.)
4. What is an example of a successful American multinational corporation? Why is it considered successful?

Diversity is described as the full range of human similarities and the differences

Diversity is described as the full range of human similarities and the differences

Diversity is described as the full range of human similarities and the differences in group affiliation including gender, race/ethnicity, social class, role within an organization, religion, sexual orientation, physical ability, and other group identities. The demographics of the United States have changed dramatically in the past three decades and will continue to change. These changes are reflective in the patients we serve and our healthcare workforce. These changes are affecting the delivery of health services from both the patients and the employee’s perspective.

We may have an unconscious bias that affects the way we interact with others. Identify a theory that may explain why we treat people of certain genders, gender identities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, and/or ages differently. Pick one dimension to explore in depth (i.e. race, ethnicity, country-of-origin, religion, sexual orientation, sexual identity, age). Explore if this is an issue in healthcare as it relates to quality-of-care, access-to-care, workforce, and leadership. Using theory and existing literature make a case as to why this is important for healthcare organizations to address and how we can address this issue in a diverse workforce. It is recommended that you address the issue of “diversity,” “equity,” and “inclusion” in your exploration of this issue.

Possible deliverables –

you do not have to address these, but these are just ideas in case you are stuck.

– Using current literature, describe the current environment as it relates to diversity in healthcare – How can we address unconscious biases and why is this important to the delivery of care?

– What are the ramifications of unconscious biases if these issues are not addressed?

– Can organizations be diverse but not inclusive? How can we address that?

– What are the barriers/facilitators to addressing these issues?

– Using established literature how can we effectively address these issues?

– How can organizations build open and supporting environments?

This assignment will require devoted inquiry, assimilation, reflection, and refinement in order to achieve the highest possible score. Research paper format – 2,500 words for BODY of the paper (about 10 pages double-spaced) (this excluding the reference page, abstract, and title page) Think of it as a professional white paper – addressing an issue in healthcare – grounded in theory (not your opinion) Proper use of grammar and spelling

Requirements 2,500 words for BODY OF THE PAPER APA Format ◦ 10 (minimum) or 40 (maximum) references, with at least 10 being from scholarly academic journals

Suggested Paper Layout

recommended that you include the following sections in your paper:

Title (Name, Student ID, Date, Paper Title)

Abstract (200 word (or less) synopsis / summary of paper)

Introduction (one-two paragraphs)

Body of Paper

Review and Application of Theory (use sub-sections as you deem necessary – you need to provide enough detail that as the reader, I assume you are an expert in this area) ◦

You need to demonstrate a significant degree of knowledge regarding the theory and topic you choose. ◦

Recommend you review the existing literature to further explore that theory and how it has been applied

Discussion (Tie the theory back to the case problem)

Conclusion (one – three paragraphs)

References (APA style)

Now, with this assignment you have to select and fully explore a particular theory; the pros and cons; the evolution of the theory, and what the theory actually says. You need to put the theory and other literature in your own words; however, you must properly cite other’s work (otherwise it is plagiarism). Citing material simply gives credit to those individuals whose ideas you are using. You have to emphasize the theory that you chose and make that the center of your paper because in this class you are trying to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise in this particular area. Additionally, this class is all about theory so, I want to make sure that you know how to use it properly. The use of a theory helps support your position and gives you credibility in what you write. Remember, this paper needs to be professional. Please make sure you check it for grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Your paper must tell a story. You are writing about a particular issue…. utilizing a theory to explore it deeper….and drawing conclusions from the literature and your selected theory. Remember that you are writing it for others so you need to write in third person, so NO “I think…” or “my experience…

Use the issue that you are writing about as a springboard to dive into a particular theory. So, if you are writing about diversity, you may provide some current stats about the issue to show why this is an issue or important to address. Then use that to introduce your theory – as this will be the crux of your paper.

Address the issue in full, being absolutely certain to do so not as a layperson, but as a healthcare organizational behavior expert. Make sure to reference a particular theory and findings in scholarly peer-reviewed articles, etc. to justify your positions. Merely providing personal opinions which are unsupported is insufficient for this assignment.
